Married in Johnson County. Moved to Childress County, Texas (near Hall Co., line) with wife and daughter Rosa Lee in 1910 census. Moved to Lorenzo, Crosby Co., Texas at some time and later to the new and small town of Anton, Hockley Co., Texas
in 1924. After moving to Anton he worked most often as a drayman. He had a good team of mules, Kate and Sam, and a good wagon with which he hauled mail, from the train depot to the post office, and other trade goods to merchants in the small
town of Anton. William Berry hauled most of the bricks and most of the other building materials, as they arrived daily on the train, for the construction of the first Anton School. Wm. and Mattie married in Cleburne, Texas in 1905 by Rev. W. P.
Luton. They were divorced on September 18, 1926 in Lubbock County, Texas. He lived the rest of his life in Anton and never remarried. The three youngest children, Nellie, J.B. and Waliene stayed in Anton with him. Rosa Lee was age 19 and
married and lived in Lubbock.--B. Spradley
