Kilbarchan area: Yes, it is partly agricultural but many towns and villages had links to the weaving. Paisley, the county town is of course famous for the Paisley Pattern and was principally in the cloth industry. However, it's a modern country
- most of the traditional industries have gone and Paisley and Glasgow have sprawled so much that probably most of the people who live in Kilbarchan work in one or the other and both sustain a wide range of business and industry. It's quite a
beautiful part of the country. Many people would pass it by to head for the splendours further north but while it's not as breathtakingly beautiful as parts of the highlands it's still beautiful. You can see the mountains to the north as well
as the Campsie fells to the East and to the west there is the coast and the Island of Arran. It's quite a rugged countryside and while it's very green, the rock is very near to the surface.
