[54] Pierce Musgrove was the first of his family--at least for several generations--to attend a University. He graduated from the University of Oklahoma in 1939 and pursued a career in the oil business for the rest of his life.

He spent some years working for Sohio, in Konowa, Oklahoma, then Russell, Kansas. Then, in 1947, he started Musgrove PetroleumCorporation. (He was featured in the June, 1950, issue of The Kioga Log.), and became enormously successful, spinning
off several other companies along the way.

In 1956, Musgrove Petroleum was merged with General American Industries, which included several companies, including Tandy. In 1960, he re-purchased, with cash, the company, renaming it Musgrove Drilling. He operated it until his death by
cerebral hemorrhage in 1961.
