[4988] Jacob is buried in the Old Currence cemetery.
[4990] He bought 114 acres of land on Middle Mountain in 1792, 270 acres on Slate Creek
[4991] from James Wamsley in 1795, 15 acres from Samuel Currence in 1812 and 100 acres
[4992] from Robert Hewell on Springston's Run in 1824. He deeded 100 acres to Jacob, Jr. on
[4993] Springston's Run in 1830. He built a home on Springston's Run and the first water mill in
[4994] Randolph Co. His will was signed 7 Sep 1831 and probated in Jun 1832, executor Jacob
[4995] Slagle and witnesses John Wood and Thomas Carter, Jr. His will names 9 children.
[4997] Jacob, Sr. was the second son of John Jaccob, Jr.
[4999] The Slagle Methodist Church, now the Israel Methodist Church, about a mile north of
[5000] Kerens was named for the Slagles. Jacob lived near the church about 2 miles up from
[5001] Kerens on Leading Creek.
