John Phares (Faris), a brickmaker or bricklayer, was apparently the progenitor of the Phares family in this country and was almost certainly of Scotch-Irish descent. He probably came to his country from the British Isles and was known to have
been in the Philadelphia area in the early 1700's. He later moved to Burlington County, New Jersey, where he spent the rest of his life. Died sometime before 20 Sep 1736 when the administration of his will was given to his widow, Mary. No list
of heirs.
