We dedicate this book: Montrose Community History, in memory of John Holsberry Moore, owner of "Moore and Company General Store," keeper of the first switchboard in Montrose, worker in the church, a politition, school promoter, and in every way
a community worker. His store was a meeting place, at all times, for good fellowship. Most of all, he was a friend to man, helping others before self. He collected collateral of all sorts for debts, and when nothing was given, in such
proportions, he, himself, sometimes failed to keep his own responsibilities promptly. Perhaps there was no other person, who reached out so far, who gave more of self, and afforded more chance, to this community, for prosperity, and happiness
than he. Written by Daisy Martin on the Dedication Page of her book.
